Weekly Checks for a Lithium Golf Cart Rental Fleet – Redway Tech Talk
Buyer question / scenario

A resort runs a rental fleet of lithium golf carts, with a service visit only every few months. The fleet supervisor wants a weekly check that staff can do in a few minutes per cart to catch problems between visits.

Main answer

Use a short weekly routine: review which carts charged fully, check connectors and cables for heat or damage, read the display and note any alarms, confirm the pack is firmly mounted, and clean dirt and water from around the battery and charge port. Check each charger’s lead and plug too. Log results by cart and battery serial, and take a cart out of service if the pack is damaged, hot, swollen or smells.

The weekly checklist

  1. Charge records. Which carts did not reach full charge, or charged slowly; see our fault log article.
  2. Connectors and cables. Tight terminals, no discolouration, fraying or exposed copper.
  3. Display and alarms. Charge level and any fault codes; compare with how the cart drives.
  4. Mounting. Hold-downs in place and no rubbing against the frame.
  5. Cleanliness. Remove grass, dirt and standing water; Redway’s golf cart packs are rated IP65, but connectors and charge ports still need care.
  6. Chargers. Leads, plugs and the charger’s indicator lights.

Making it work

Print the checklist on a card per cart and keep it under five minutes. Rotate carts so lightly used ones still get checked and charged; see our replacement cycle article. Share the log with the service provider before each visit.

Seasonal points

Before a quiet season, follow the supplier’s storage instructions, including the storage charge level; our stored pack article explains why. Redway’s maintenance and storage page gives background.

Redway’s golf cart packs list about 4000 cycles. Redway’s golf cart warranty is 3 years, and 5 years on the 48V 100Ah model.

Risk limits

Staff should only carry out visual checks and cleaning; electrical work belongs to trained technicians. Follow the supplier’s instructions for your model. This article is general guidance for fleet supervisors.

Additional perspectives

Fleet supervisor perspective

Link the check to an existing routine, such as Monday cleaning. A check that rides on a habit gets done.

Service technician perspective

Send us the log before each visit. It tells us which carts to look at first and saves hours on site.

Resort manager perspective

Track flat-cart incidents per month. If they fall after the routine starts, it is easy to keep the time in the schedule.
