A distributor supplies lithium golf cart batteries to 40 dealers in a region eight hours behind the factory. Installers call with questions in the middle of the factory’s night, and simple issues take two days to close. The distributor wants a support model that works across time zones.
Build two tiers. Your own first-line team answers common questions from a fault guide in your time zone, and passes only real faults to the factory with a fixed data pack: photos, BMS readings, charger model and a short video. Agree response windows, channels and a shared case log with the factory in writing. Redway’s pages mention installation, debugging and troubleshooting support; the exact channels and hours should be confirmed.
What the first line should handle
- Wiring and terminal questions answered by the installation sheet.
- Charger settings and compatibility, using the approved charger list.
- Reading the state of charge and alarms on the display or app (Redway lists Bluetooth, app, LCD and 4G among its options).
- Power switch, breaker and sleep-mode questions.
The data pack for the factory
- Pack serial number, model and installation date.
- Cart model, controller and charger model.
- BMS screenshots or exports showing cell voltages, temperature and alarm history.
- Photos of terminals and wiring, and a short video of the fault.
Sent together, this lets the factory answer in one reply, often overnight, rather than asking questions across several days.
Agreements to put in writing
Response time per severity, the channel (email, messaging app, video call), who decides on a replacement, and how replacement packs are shipped. Redway’s golf cart warranty is 3 years, and 5 years on the 48V 100Ah model. Use our RMA steps for packs that need to come back, and Redway’s troubleshooting page as background for the fault guide.
Measuring whether it works
Track three numbers each month: cases opened, average days to close, and the share closed by the first line without the factory. Share them with the factory every quarter. Falling closing times show that the fault guide and the data pack are doing their job.
Risk limits
Remote support works for diagnosis and settings, not for opening packs in the field. Installers should not open a pack or change BMS parameters unless the factory approves it in writing. Confirm support terms for your contract with Redway.
Additional perspectives
Publish a one-page fault guide and update it every month from real cases. After a few months, most calls are answered by the first line without waiting for the factory.
Redway Tech Editorial Team – Distributor service manager perspective
A short video of the fault and a photo of the BMS screen save more time than a long email. Film the display while you reproduce the problem.
Redway Tech Editorial Team – Installer perspective
Use one shared case log with a case number per pack. When both sides see the same history, nobody asks for data that has already been sent.
