Private-Label Golf Cart Batteries for a Dealer Network – Redway Tech Talk
Buyer question / scenario

A distributor supplies forty golf cart dealers and wants a lithium battery range under its own brand, with the same performance for every dealer and a single point for warranty. The factory can print the logo, but the distributor wants more than a sticker.

Main answer

Build a private-label range in four layers: a fixed specification and BMS settings for each model, label and manual in your name, documents and test reports you can pass to dealers, and a warranty and support chain that you control. Redway offers silkscreen, label, laser logo and user manual options, and OEM custom orders have no MOQ by default (1 piece), though some products carry a 10-piece minimum. Keep claims on labels to what documents support.

The four layers

  1. Specification. Freeze one specification per model: voltage, capacity, dimensions, BMS parameters and options. Redway’s pages list options such as Bluetooth, app, 4G, GPS and CAN-bus. A frozen spec makes dealer training and spares simple.
  2. Label and manual. Logo, model naming, warning text and a manual in your name. Do not put certification marks or claims on labels unless you hold the supporting documents. Redway’s About page lists UN 38.3 and Grade-A cells (CATL, EVE), along with UL1973, UL2580 and IEC62133; scope is confirmed per model and order. Redway’s batteries are designed and tested to UL-related standards (for example UL 2580 for EV batteries). The test report is typically issued in the customer’s name, and scope and applicable standards are confirmed at quotation. Ask for a report under your own company name and check the standard number, model and date.
  3. Documents. UN 38.3 summary, SDS and any test reports your market requires, filed per model and available to dealers on request.
  4. Warranty and support. Redway’s golf cart warranty is 3 years, and 5 years on the 48V 100Ah model. Decide who your dealers call, what evidence they collect and how replacements flow. See our RMA article.

Rolling it out

Start with two models and ten dealers, then add models after the first quarter’s service data. Our pilot order article lists what to approve first, and Redway’s OEM and ODM page describes the service.

Keeping dealers consistent

Give dealers one installation sheet per cart family and require the same commissioning checklist for every sale. Collect the checklists and use them to spot weak installs before they become claims. A network that installs the same way is easier to support and protects the brand’s reputation.

Risk limits

A private label makes you the brand in the dealer’s and the customer’s eyes, so check your local product-liability, labelling and warranty obligations with an adviser. Do not claim that products are certified by a body unless you hold the certificate. This article is general guidance for distributors.

Additional perspectives

Distributor perspective

Create a dealer pack with the datasheet, manual, installation steps and a one-page claim form. A simple, identical pack for every dealer reduces calls and keeps your warranty processing fast.

Brand manager perspective

Choose model names that tell the dealer the voltage and capacity and leave room for new options. Keep the label design fixed for the first year, because relabelling stock is costly.

Technical support perspective

Collect common dealer questions in the first 90 days and turn them into a one-page FAQ for your own staff. The questions show whether the manual is clear and whether the BMS defaults are right for your market.

Specifications are taken from Redway product pages as of October 2026. Where a figure isn’t published, this article says so. Confirm current specifications for your model with Redway before ordering. This article is general guidance, not a site-specific engineering assessment.
