A fleet manager with 40 lithium forklifts across three warehouses is offered 4G cloud monitoring for the packs. The IT team asks which data points are worth sending and storing, and the operations team wants alerts that are useful rather than noisy.
Log a small set of data that answers real questions: state of charge, pack voltage and current, highest and lowest cell voltage, cell temperatures, alarm and protection events, charge start and end, and cycle count. Redway’s forklift packs list BMS monitoring of SOC, voltage, current, cell voltage and cell temperature, and several models list cloud monitoring with a 4G antenna. Confirm the platform’s features and data access with the supplier.
Data points and what they answer
- SOC and charge events. Are trucks charged when planned, and do any run too low?
- Pack voltage and current. Which trucks work hardest, and is any truck drawing more than expected?
- Highest and lowest cell voltage. The spread shows balance trends long before a fault.
- Cell temperatures. Hot spots during charging or heavy use, and cold packs in freezer areas.
- Alarms and protection events. The record a supplier needs to diagnose a fault. Our cell imbalance article shows how they are used.
- Cycle count and energy throughput. The basis for replacement planning.
Alerts that help
Start with few alerts: low SOC during a shift, over-temperature, any protection trip and a growing cell spread. Send each to a named person. Too many alerts lead people to ignore them all.
Questions for the supplier
- Which data is sent, how often, and how long it is kept?
- Who owns the data, and can it be exported or sent to your own system?
- Who pays for the SIM and data plan, and what happens if coverage is weak inside the building?
- Can the supplier see the data for remote support, and with what access control?
Redway’s BMS and telematics page covers the background. Redway’s forklift specification tables show 5 years, which is the design life of the pack; the after-sales technical support period is 3 years.
Coverage inside the building
Test 4G signal where trucks park and charge before signing up. Steel racking and cold rooms can weaken it. If coverage is poor, ask whether data is stored on the pack and sent later, so that history is not lost when a truck works in a dead zone.
Risk limits
Monitoring helps you see problems early, but it does not replace inspection or the supplier’s fault procedure. Platform functions differ by model; confirm them with Redway before relying on them for operations.
Additional perspectives
Review one dashboard page each week: lowest SOC per truck, alarms and cell spread. Ten minutes a week is enough to spot the truck that needs attention.
Redway Tech Editorial Team – Fleet manager perspective
Agree data ownership and export format in the contract. If you change platform later, you will want the history of each pack.
Redway Tech Editorial Team – IT manager perspective
Give the supplier read access during the support period. Remote diagnosis with real data is faster than describing a fault by email.

Specifications are taken from Redway product pages as of October 2026. Where a figure isn’t published, this article says so. Confirm current specifications for your model with Redway before ordering. This article is general guidance, not a site-specific engineering assessment.
