A dealer wants to start selling lithium forklift batteries but only needs a few units of different voltages for its first customers. The purchasing manager asks how minimum order quantity works and how to plan the first and later orders.
Ask the supplier for its MOQ by model, not as one figure. At Redway, OEM custom orders have no MOQ by default, so a first order can start from one piece, although some specific products carry a 10-piece minimum. A mixed first order of several models is usually possible. Plan the first order as a trial, confirm lead times and shipping options for small quantities, and agree how repeat orders and spare parts will be handled once demand grows.
How to structure a first order
- Pick a few models. Start with the voltages and capacities your first customers need.
- Check each model’s minimum. OEM custom orders have no MOQ by default (1 piece), although some specific products carry a 10-piece minimum, so confirm for your model.
- Agree custom details. Labels, connectors or brackets add engineering steps; see our sample-to-series article.
- Plan shipping. Small quantities may ship by consolidated sea freight or another route; ask about cost and time; see our shipping article.
Planning repeat orders
- Track sales by model and agree a forecast with the supplier.
- Hold a small stock of the fastest-moving models.
- Agree spare parts such as BMS boards and connectors; see our spares article.
- Review terms when volumes grow, including payment and lead time; see our payment terms article.
Support and warranty
Redway’s forklift specification tables show 5 years, which is the design life of the pack; the after-sales technical support period is 3 years. Make sure support terms are the same for small and large orders, and confirm who handles field service in your area. Redway’s OEM and procurement page gives background.
Risk limits
MOQ, lead times and terms can change by model and order, so confirm them in the quotation. Prices change, so use current quotes. This article is general guidance for buyers.
Additional perspectives
Ask for MOQ, lead time and price for each model on one sheet. It makes comparing a mixed order much simpler.
Redway Tech Editorial Team – Purchasing manager perspective
Use the first units as demonstrators as well as sales stock. A truck running on site sells the next order.
Redway Tech Editorial Team – Dealer perspective
Share your first-year forecast, even if it is rough. It helps us plan materials and keep lead times short on repeat orders.

Specifications are taken from Redway product pages as of October 2026. Where a figure isn’t published, this article says so. Confirm current specifications for your model with Redway before ordering. This article is general guidance, not a site-specific engineering assessment.
