A golf cart distributor is about to receive a container of 48V lithium packs. On the last order, two packs arrived with a wrong label and one would not communicate with the display. The QA manager wants a list of final checks that the factory runs and records on every pack.
Agree a written outgoing checklist per model, run on every pack and recorded against its serial number: visual and label check, open-circuit voltage, a BMS function check, communication with the display or app, the burn-in test before shipment, and a packing check. Type tests such as vibration, shock or short circuit are design tests, not per-pack tests, so ask for those reports separately.
A practical checklist
- Visual and label. Shell, terminals, label text and serial number match the approved sample and the packing list.
- Voltage. Open-circuit voltage within the agreed window, so packs ship at a consistent state of charge.
- BMS function. Charge and discharge switch on, the power switch works, and protection responds as specified.
- Communication. RS485, Bluetooth, app or LCD connect if ordered. Redway lists these and options such as 4G, GPS and CAN-bus on its golf cart pages.
- Burn-in test before shipment, recorded with the serial number.
- Packing. Terminals protected, correct dangerous-goods marks, and the carton matches the export documents.
Design tests versus per-pack tests
Redway’s quality management page describes tests such as altitude, thermal, vibration, shock, short circuit and overcharge. These belong to design and transport qualification, for example UN 38.3, and are not repeated on each pack. Redway’s packs are designed and tested to UL-related standards; the test report is typically issued in the customer’s name, and the scope is confirmed at quotation. Ask for a report under your own company name. The factory operates under ISO 9001/14001 management systems, and the certificate is available on request.
How to make it stick
Ask for the outgoing record as a spreadsheet with the shipment, and check a random sample on arrival. Our RMA guide shows how to handle any pack that fails. Redway’s golf cart warranty is 3 years, and 5 years on the 48V 100Ah model.
Sampling on arrival
Agree an arrival sampling rule in the contract, for example a fixed number of packs per container checked for label, voltage and communication. Record results with photos. If the sample finds a systematic error, such as a wrong label revision, the contract should say how the factory corrects the rest of the shipment.
Risk limits
A checklist reduces, but does not remove, the chance of a faulty pack. Which tests apply per batch should be confirmed with the factory for your model. This article is buyer-side guidance, not Redway’s internal procedure.
Additional perspectives
Ask for the outgoing record before the balance payment, not after arrival. If serial numbers in the record do not match the packing list, stop and resolve it while the goods are still at the factory.
Redway Tech Editorial Team – QA manager perspective
Check five packs from every container on arrival: label, voltage and communication. It takes less than an hour and catches most problems before a customer sees them.
Redway Tech Editorial Team – Dealer service lead perspective
Keep design-test reports and per-pack records in separate folders. Customs or a fleet customer may ask for the first, and a warranty claim usually needs the second.
Redway Tech Editorial Team – Compliance perspective
Specifications are taken from Redway product pages as of October 2026. Where a figure isn’t published, this article says so. Confirm current specifications for your model with Redway before ordering. This article is general guidance, not a site-specific engineering assessment.
