A procurement manager and an engineer are flying to Guangdong to see the factory behind a forklift battery quote. They have two days, an interpreter and a list of questions, but no agreed route through the plant.
Walk the path of your order from receiving to shipping, and ask to see a live order and its records at every stop: cell storage and sorting, pack assembly, BMS programming, charge-discharge and safety testing, burn-in, final inspection and the dangerous-goods packing area. Send the agenda and a document list in advance, confirm visit arrangements and photography rules with the factory, and write notes against a checklist while you are there.
The route to walk
- Receiving and cell storage. Cell labels, lot records, storage conditions and how rejected cells are separated. Redway’s About page states that its cells are Grade-A (CATL, EVE); ask for the lot record for your order.
- Assembly. Joining and torque control, work instructions at the station, and who signs off each stage.
- BMS programming. The station where parameters are written, the firmware version control, and how a wrong setting would be caught.
- Testing. Redway’s quality management page shows test headings such as altitude, thermal, vibration, shock, short circuit, impact/crush, forced discharge and overcharge. Ask which are done in the factory and which at an outside laboratory, and ask to see the equipment and its calibration labels.
- Burn-in and final inspection. Redway runs a burn-in test before shipment. Ask for the record of your serial numbers.
- Packing and shipping. Labels, pallets, the dangerous-goods paperwork and the UN 38.3 test summary for your model.
Before you go
Redway’s product pages name the factory as Redway Dongguan, and its factory views page shows the site. Visit arrangements are not published, so ask the factory to confirm the address, contact person, working hours and photography rules in writing, and check that the legal entity on your purchase order matches the one you visit. The factory operates under ISO 9001/14001 management systems, and the certificate is available on request. Ask to see the certificate during the visit.
After the visit
Write the visit report within two days, while details are fresh: what you saw, which records you asked for, which were provided, and open actions with owners and dates. Send it to the factory and ask for written replies. A visit that produces a short corrective-action list and a date for follow-up is more useful than one that ends with general reassurance.
Risk limits
A visit shows one day of one line. A tidy floor is not a quality system, and a factory can prepare for a visit, so choose serial numbers and records yourself. Pair the visit with a document review; our factory audit checklist lists the records to request. This article is general guidance for buyers.
Additional perspectives
Send the agenda, attendee names and a document list a week ahead, and agree who signs the visit report on each side. Ask for an hour with the person who handles customer claims, because that conversation tells you more about after-sales than a line tour does.
Redway Tech Editorial Team – Procurement perspective
Bring your drawing and specification, and ask to see the BMS programming station for a pack like yours. Photograph labels and station instructions where permitted, and ask how a parameter change requested by a customer is approved and recorded.
Redway Tech Editorial Team – Engineering perspective
Look at how charged packs and cells are stored: spacing, fire protection, signage and the emergency plan. Ask how a pack that fails a test is isolated. These answers show how the factory handles risk before your order is packed.

Specifications are taken from Redway product pages as of October 2026. Where a figure isn’t published, this article says so. Confirm current specifications for your model with Redway before ordering. This article is general guidance, not a site-specific engineering assessment.
