After using the Bluetooth app that came with my EG4 WP 48V-100Ah battery, I found that the Renogy battery monitor provided much more accurate information. The Bluetooth app only updated every 5 seconds and didn’t provide information about the battery capacity being held back. In contrast, the Renogy battery monitor offers variable illumination modes and configurable metrics, making it highly customizable for individual needs.
The installation process was straightforward, although there were a few challenges. The + wire to the battery is quite tiny, and the hole in the shunt is even smaller. However, with patience and by backing out the set screw completely, I was able to fit the wire into the shunt. I would recommend doing this step first before mounting everything to ensure easy access to the tiny hole. Additionally, the posts on the 500Amp version are quite large, requiring ring terminals of appropriate size for proper connection.
One important note is that the product does not include power wires, so it’s necessary to have some big power wire on hand for installation. I used an old winch power wire and cut it to fit. Overall, despite these minor challenges, I would definitely purchase the Renogy 500A Battery Monitor again due to its accuracy and dependability.
